The neurovascular unit provides a conceptual framework for exploring basic mechanisms and pursuing translation in stroke. In this talk, we will discuss (a) how help-me signaling in the neurovascular unit mediates injury and repair in the CNS, (b) how age and co-morbidities influences cross-talk between the neurovascular unit and systemic biology, and (c) how accounting these interactions may help in stroke translation.
