As we commemorate America's 250th anniversary and reflect on the past, present, and future of the American idea, we are honored to welcome one of the nation's most influential voices on constitutional government and civic renewal. Dr. Levin's work challenges the increasingly common assumption that the Constitution is the source of our political dysfunction. Instead, he argues that our founding document offers a framework for navigating disagreement, rebuilding trust, and governing together despite profound differences.

At a moment when political polarization often feels insurmountable, Levin invites us to reconsider the Constitution not as a relic of the past, but as a living structure capable of helping Americans act together in common purpose. How can a deeply divided society sustain self-government? What role should institutions play in channeling disagreement productively? And what lessons from the constitutional system might help renew democratic life in the twenty-first century? These questions are at the heart of Levin's timely and thought-provoking work.

Yuval Levin is Director of Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies at the American Enterprise Institute, where he holds the Beth and Ravenel Curry Chair in Public Policy. He is the founder and editor of National Affairs, a senior editor at The New Atlantis, a contributing editor at National Review, and the author of several influential books on American political culture and institutions.
