ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

As the title of the exhibition “Submerged Luminaries“ suggests, lights and darkness will be one of the main features of the show, creating an immersive environment of the binary extremes for the viewers. The image of a shining rock at the bottom of a lake serves as an analogy of childhood memories and traumas, which mostly forgotten, subconsciously channels lives. In the exhibition, Zhang wanted to bring those “rocks” back to the surface for the viewers to confront and reflect upon, a process that helps to understand their decisions, character, and the meaning of being humans.
