pranayama (breath work)\, and asana (exercises)\, to traditional meditati
on to relieve stress and cultivate inner peace. Come as you are\, no exper
ience is needed. Yoga mats will be provided. Space is limited. Registratio
n is required.\n\nHosted by the USC Office of Religious and Spiritual Life
  (ORSL).\n\n \n\nAbout the instructor:\n\nShreya Ranganathan is a certifie
d Hatha Yoga instructor and senior Journalism student at USC Annenberg. Ra
nganathan fell in love with Hatha practices when she traveled to India for
the first time\, and they helped her find light in darker situations. Shr
eya’s philosophy is that yoga should be a practice for everyone\, regard
less of race\, class\, and other barriers that have historically prevented
BIPOC communities from participating. Ranganathan believes in yoga storyt
elling with the heart\, the head\, the mind\, the spirit\, and the breath.
Through a holistic and authentic approach\, true to ancient scriptures su
ch as Patanjali Yoga Sutras and The Bhagavad-Gita\, she hopes to change th
e stigma surrounding yoga and assist her peers on their journeys of healin
g.\n\n \n\nAbout the exhibition:\n\nIn Community: Arts at Blue Roof at USC
Fisher brings together works of art that explore the complexities of our
human experience\, as well as the relief and support that the community ca
n offer. The five 2021–2022 Arts at Blue Roof artists-in-residence—Con
nie Martin Trevino\, Carmen Mardónez\, Noni Olabisi\, Dalia Palacios\, an
 d Robin Strayhorn—manipulate clay\, paper\, recycled bedsheets\, paint\,
and other media as they investigate themes of gender\, race\, religion\,
and mental health. Through the resulting art objects\, the artists declare
creative freedom\, conjure fantastical underwater creatures\, offer praye
rs to the ancestors\, honor spiritual teachers\, and explore motherhood. I
n Community: Arts at Blue Roof at USC Fisher is curated by Elissa Watters.
