Artist's Statement:
"Drawing parallels between the acts of hunting prey and taxidermy to the female experience, the show is informed by early discourses of goddess art, Indigenous practices, banality, and Eve’s biblical narrative, stated artist Xyla Abella. "What is it to be a woman if not to be blamed and to be an animal? Because I Was Flesh begins with the story of Eve, and it will end with the story of me."
