ARTIST STATEMENT

Born from girlish musings scribbled in a decade-old diary, the show considers concepts of displacement and belonging, questioning both real and metaphorical homescapes that revolve around my early migration to South Texas. Engaging the praxis of traditional and unorthodox photography to examine my own (and the migrant child’s) perpetual aspiration of inclusion, the show embodies the necessarily cynical yet miraculously naive desire for a deep connection with America as a country and land.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
