The USC Wrigley Institute proudly announces our upcoming 2021 Delta Murphy Distinguished Lecture.

Join three pathbreaking scientists to discuss their unique experiences overcoming inequitable obstacles, and to address the critical importance of diverse voices leading the scientific enterprise.  

Dr. Rita Colwell:  11th Director of the National Science Foundation, 1998-2004, and the first woman to hold the position;  expert on global infectious diseases, safe drinking water, and human health in the developed and developing world.

Dr. Hope Jahren: Geochemist, and award-winning author of international bestseller ‘Lab Girl’,  named a best book of the year (2016) by The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME.com, NPR, Slate, and more.

Dr. Dawn Wright: Chief Scientist of the Environmental Systems Research Institute (aka Esri); first African American female to dive to the ocean floor in the deep submersible ALVIN.
