Women of Integrity tells the remarkable story of the Immaculate Heart Community (IHC), a religious group that originated in Spain in the 1840s. Recently arrived at the USC Libraries, the collection charts the growth of the organization from the 19th century through its many changes in the 20th century, to the present. The exhibition celebrates the impact of IHC as the global community marks its 175th anniversary.
At a panel discussion preceding the exhibition reception, members of the Immaculate Heart Community will discuss the fascinating history of the organization, and the factors a half century ago that led them to chart a new course separate from the Catholic Church. In addition, they will detail their ongoing struggle for social and environmental justice in historically marginalized communities as the group reinvents itself for the future.
