Melody Aleman, PhD Student in Marine Environmental Biology
Talk: Following a Phytoplankton Bloom at the Santa Monica Pier
Melody Aleman is a first-generation PhD student in Dr. Jed Fuhrman’s lab at USC studying ecological interactions between marine bacteria and viruses. In 2017, Melody graduated with a B.S. Degree in Biology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in Marine Biology. Melody is passionate about promoting diversity in STEM and hands-on education in marine science.
Lucine Oganesian, PhD Student in Electrical and Computer Engineering
Talk: Data-Driven Modeling of Network-Wide Mood Dynamics
Lucine Oganesian received her B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley in 2016. She worked as a software engineer at Google for 4 years before joining the Electrical Engineering department at USC as a Ph.D. student. Her interests lie at the intersection of statistical signal processing, control theory, and neural engineering. When not at her computer, she can be found in the kitchen or at a park training capoeira.
