Encoders and sensors of the DNA adenine methylome
Dr. Feldman’s laboratory seeks to understand how newly uncovered DNA base modifications impact gene expression in embryonic stem cells and cancer. Recent work from his laboratory has revealed the molecular infrastructure of a mammalian DNA N6-methyladenine (6mA) methylation, erasure, and sensor system. He will describe how mutational deregulation of the 6mA system occurs in solid tumors and blood malignancies, and may underlie developmental syndromes associated with defects in craniofacial patterning.
