Dr. Chuong's research group has been using the avian skin model to study development, regeneration and evolution. Complex patterns on the avian integument are formed using principles like Turing periodic patterning, follicle cyclic renewal, temporal and regional specificities, and adaptability for evolution. He will discuss two recent stories: 1) How channel activities are involved in early feather bud morphogenesis. 2) How Polish chickens with a 195bp duplication in the noncoding region of HoxC gene clusters exhibit comb-feathers transformation.
This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
