How the Skin Made Man: The Genetic and Developmental Origins of Humans’ Sweaty, Naked Skin
Humans are unique in using sweating as the primary mechanism to dump body heat, making the eccrine sweat gland indispensable for human survival. I will present the advances our lab has made in identifying the genetic and cellular interactions dictating fate and patterning of eccrine glands, and the implications of these findings for understanding the evolution of human thermoregulation and the design of therapeutic efforts to regenerate sweat glands.
This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
