Thursday, January 23 at 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Grace Ford Salvatori Hall (GFS), 101
3601 Watt Way, Los Angeles, CA 90089
Be part of the movement and explore how you can lead social change in South Los Angeles. Come together with a group of diverse emerging leaders at USC and participate in dialogue about pressing social justice issues in our country, how they intersect, and how as leaders we can work towards combating them no matter the sector of work we choose to pursue. If we're striving for an equitable and just society, it is vital that students are at the forefront, becoming advocates and activists to promote real change.
The event will include:
Rising Above the Odds: Discuss the impact of the foster care system and its intersection with homelessness. Students will share and learn about effective strategies on how to support foster or homeless youth as they begin their college journey.
What's missing in the classroom? Discuss experiences working in the education system around South LA and share what you believe is missing in education in order to provide an equitable experience for all students that can set them up for a pathway to success.
Corporate Social Responsibility: What is it and why is it important?
Food and refreshments will be provided. For additional information, please contact Kortnee.Ogbuefi@teachforamerica.org.
