The Center for Genetic Epidemiology is hosting a virtual seminar with Adam Locke, Ph.D, Director of Statistical Genetics at Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC). He earned a B.A in Biology from Lawrence University in 2003, and a PhD in Genetics & Molecular Biology from Emory University in 2010. Before joining the RGC in June of 2020, he was an Assistant Professor at Washington University School of Medicine in the McDonnell Genome Institute. He has been a leader in the application of genome-wide association studies, consortium-based GWAS meta-analysis, and genome and exome-sequencing data to understand the genetic contributions to type 2 diabetes, obesity, and psychiatric disorders. At the RGC, he leads a statistical genetics team focused on discovery genetics in cardiovascular, metabolic, and skeletal diseases.
