Book Talk: Issues: A History of Photography in Fashion Magazines

This conversation will focus on photography in the context of the printed page and changes to the fashion magazine industry over the past century. Aletti's emphasis is on how the work of photographers from outside the world of fashion impacted the magazines they appeared in.

Vince Aletti is a writer, curator, and critic whose work appears regularly in Vogue Italia, photograph, and Aperture. An inveterate collector of international fashion magazines, he has also published extensively on their significance in the history of photography. Most recently, he selected 100 examples from his collection, spanning the years 1925 to 2018, for the publication Issues: A History of Photography in Fashion Magazines (Phaidon, 2019).
