Title: The Geometry of Billiards
Abstract: Mathematical billiards is the study of the motion of a ball bouncing in a billiard table, or a laser beam travelling in a room of mirrors. If the table (or room) is a simple rectangle, this problem is boring, but when the table is a different shape (e.g. an imperfect circle or a polygon) then suddenly, the problem becomes much richer. Indeed, there are basic questions that have been open for over 100 years!
