Fund for the Public Interest career campaign positions- work to create social change!
Are you ready to help build the grassroots power it takes to stand up to special interests and give the public a voice?
The Fund for the Public Interest is seeking hard-working individuals with great communication skills and a passion for social change to fill our campaign staff and Field Manager positions in Los Angeles.
Change takes people power and the Fund builds that power. For more than 30 years, we’ve helped to win campaigns, build resources and mobilize thousands of people for the nation’s top public interest and environmental organizations, including Environment America and U.S. PIRG. Currently, we’re hiring for Field Managers and campaign staff for the California Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG). CALPIRG is a consumer group that stands up to powerful interests whenever they threaten our health and safety, our financial security or our right to fully participate in our democratic society. CALPIRG’s mission is to deliver persistent, result-oriented public interest activism that protects consumers, encourages a fair, sustainable economy, and fosters responsive, democratic government. For decades, we’ve stood up for consumers, countering the influence of big banks, insurers, chemical manufacturers and other powerful special interests.
This winter, we’re calling on our state decision makers to ban Roundup until independent research can prove it’s safe. The World Health Organization (WHO), has found that Monsanto’s Roundup and other glyphosate-based herbicides could pose significant risks to human health. We shouldn’t be exposing ourselves to something that has the potential to cause such harm. The fact that Roundup and similar herbicides are so widely used makes this a serious threat to public health.
We know it won't be enough to be right or have a great argument. To get decision makers to do the right thing, we will need thousands of people to make their voices heard through petitions, emails, small donations, and meetings. We’re hiring campaign staff to build the people power it will take to get our decision makers to act.
We need people like you to go out into communities to talk with citizens about the issues, raise money, and build membership. You will also have the opportunity to work with the media, build coalitions and mobilize community activists.
