USC students are invited to our Time Capsule 2050 kick-off event happening THIS FRIDAY,  April 5th at USC’s Ray Stark Family Theater SCA 108. Join us for an exploration of future possibilities…from dystopian fears to utopian dreams!

The outstanding panelists presenting their research are:

  • Scott Mahoy: A summary of historical movements envisioning the future, including the Futurists and the Situationists.
  • Yves Bergquist: A review of recent advances in AI, neural networks, Sora, and other generative video tools.
  • Stuart Candy: An Introduction to the futures process, with an emphasis on creating just, sustainable, and ethical societies
  • Rachel Joy Victor: An overview of how to create data-informed emergent experiences where world affordances and individual agency intersect. Ethnic Futurism will be discussed.
  • Marientina Gotsis: A summary of how AI and new technologies are transforming media in medicine and health fields and a look at where these fields are trending.

Following the panel, enjoy FREE PIZZA and participate in a FUN and CREATIVE game/workshop when you will make predictions about the world in 2050!

Come to the event to hear details about how you can create a NEW project –game, live action, animation, AR/VR, installation– that imagines the future! Eligible moving image projects made by USC students will be sealed in a digital time capsule in early 2025 & remain sealed until the year 2050!

Deadline for Time Capsule 2050 projects is December ‘24.  Entries could win up to $3000 in prizes!

Don't miss out! Make sure to RSVP ASAP before the event sells out.
