Join us for a special seminar on “The World’s Oceans:  More Critical than Ever” featuring Dr. Stephen C. Lubard, former technical director of science and technology for the Office of Naval Research.

The oceans cover more than 70 percent of the Earth’s surface, with an average depth of two miles, but beneath the near-surface they are terra incognita. This fascinating discussion will range across geography, including ocean currents and climate, the South China Sea, and Arctic and Antarctica waves. Oceans also are a theater of geopolitics, so the discussion will also touch on the important role of the US Navy in keeping the United States safe and prosperous.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
