Distinguished University Professor Emeritus, Founding Director, Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies, University of Massachusetts Amherst Professor James Young’s richly illustrated presentation, based on his most recent book“The Stages of Memory: Reflections on Memorial Art, Loss, and the Spaces Between” includes reflections on his experiences as a juror for Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial and New York City’s 9/11 Memorial competition.
Response given by Michael Renov, USC Professor of Cinema & Media Studies and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and author of “Hollywood's Wartime Woman: Representation and Ideology;” and ”The Subject of Documentary.” Dr. Renov also served as editor of “Theorizing Documentary,” co-editor of the 27 volume “Visible Evidence” series and "From Shtetl to Stardom: Jews in Hollywood" on the role Jews have played in American popular culture.
