On Thursday, April 20 from 12-1:30 p.m. PST at the Vineyard Room on the first level of the Davidson Continuing Education Center (DCC), Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Gordon Brown, joins CPF Director Bob Shrum to discuss the Politics of Globalization.
Gordon Brown currently serves as the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education and WHO Ambassador for Global Health Financing. Previously, he served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2007 to 2010 and as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1997 to 2007, making him the longest-serving Chancellor in modern history, He is widely credited with preventing a second Great Depression through his stewardship of the 2009 London G20 summit.
Mr. Shrum is the Director of the USC Dornsife Center for the Political Future, and the Warschaw Chair in Practical Politics. A legendary political strategist, he was once described as "the most sought-after consultant in the Democratic Party," by The Atlantic Monthly.
Lunch is FREE and will be served from 12:00-12:20 p.m. with the interactive workshop following from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
This event takes place during National Week of Conversation which encourages people from all over America to participate in conversations that prioritize understanding each other across political, social-economic, and cultural divides.
This event is in partnership with USC Political Union, Political Student Assembly, Trojan Democrats, USC College Republicans, and The Bridge Cultural Exchange Academy.
