DESCRIPTION:
Experience award-winning opera as you’ve never seen it before—larger than life with better-than-front-row angles, glorious sound, and exclusive access behind the scenes. This live cinema transmission is part of The Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing performances from New York City to audiences across the globe with the finest artists and newest technology.

Tony Award–winning director Bartlett Sher resets Verdi’s tragic opera in 1920s Europe, with Art Deco sets by Michael Yeargan and elegant costumes by Catherine Zuber, themselves boasting a combined 11 Tony Awards. In this bold new take, baritone Quinn Kelsey, a commanding artist at the height of his powers, brings his searing portrayal of the title role to the Met for the first time, starring alongside soprano Rosa Feola as Gilda and tenor Piotr Beczala as the Duke of Mantua, with leading maestro Daniele Rustioni on the podium.

Presented by USC Visions and Voices: The Arts and Humanities Initiative. Organized by the USC School of Cinematic Arts in conjunction with the USC Thornton School of Music and the Metropolitan Opera.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
