Renowned Belarusian theater and film director Andrei Kureichik will discuss the fate of his compatriot, Nobel Laureate Ales Bialiatski, who recently was given a 10-year prison sentence that was contrived in the most dubious legal terms. Kureichik, who is himself living in exile to avoid arrest for his work for freedom of expression in Belarus, will address the importance of Bialiatski’s commitment to human rights and the meaning of his treatment by his government.
