DESCRIPTION:The Ethnography Studio is celebrating new publications from the
  interdisciplinary\, SSRC-funded project\, The Future of Facts in Latin Am
 erica\, led by PI Andrea Ballestero (USC) and Co-PIs Eden Medina (MIT) and
  Kregg Hetherington (Concordia University). The project supported a hemisp
 heric and interdisciplinary working group to explore the nature of facts i
 n the 21st century\, in the context of the ongoing redefinition of truth c
 laims amid compounding crises of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic\
 , rising religious fundamentalism and new forms of populism\, and the acce
 leration of information technologies. In these publications\, participants
  proposed new concepts to go beyond dominant truth/falsehood and fact/fict
 ion dichotomies\, offering historical and ethnographic materials examining
  the emerging nature of facts in a global context. \n\n \n\nIn this online
  event\, members of the Future of Facts working group and discussants will
  reflect on the project’s two key outcomes: a thematic cluster in the jo
 urnal Tapuya: Latin American Science\, Technology and Society\, and a blog
  series on Cultural Anthropology’s Theorizing the Contemporary. Register
