Revisiting nearest neighbors from a sparse signal approximation view
Sarath Shekkizhar, PhD student in Electrical Engineering
Sarath Shekkizhar received his Bachelor's (Electronics and Communication) and double Master's (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science) degrees from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli, India and University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles respectively. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at USC and is the recipient of the IEEE best student paper award at ICIP 2020. His research interests include graph signal processing, non-parametric methods, and machine learning.
Investigating Invisible Matter of the Universe: Dark Matter and its Galactic Halos
Dimple Sarnaaik, PhD student in Physics and Astronomy
Dimple Sarnaaik is a second year PhD student in Physics/Astronomy doing Cosmology research. Dimple earned her B.S in Physics/Computer Science with a minor in Astronomy from the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on exploring properties of Dark Matter with different probes such as weak gravitational lensing and astrometry, as well as analyzing simulation data.
About STEM Bytes
The WiSE program developed a series of seminars aimed at undergraduate students at USC titled STEM Bytes. The goal of the series is to introduce students to research opportunities in science and engineering. Research talks are presented by USC Ph.D. students and postdoctoral scholars.
