Gayatri Gopinath is a Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis and the director of the Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality at New York University. She works at the intersections of transnational feminist and queer studies, postcolonial studies, diaspora studies, and visual culture. She’s the author Impossible Desires: Queer Diasporas and South Asian Public Cultures, and her new book, Unruly Visions: The Aesthetic Practices of Queer Diaspora (Duke University Press, 2018) explores the queer diasporic art practices of interdisciplinary artists Tracey Moffatt, Akram Zaatari, and Allan deSouza.
