USC Retired Faculty Association presents

“A Role for Omega-3s in Alzheimer’s Disease Prevention”

Hussein Yassine, Ph.D
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center
Keck School of Medicine of USC

The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at USC is supported by the National Institutes of Health to conduct research on memory problems and aging. The goals are to understand the biological changes that may precede worsening memory and to assess whether new treatments may be helpful in preventing memory loss. The DHA (docohexanoic acid) Brain Delivery Study is a randomized clinical trial testing the effectiveness of algae-derived omega-3 supplements (not fish oil) in individuals at risk for Alzheimer’s and to propose methods to reduce cognitive decline in high-risk populations. Opportunities to participate in Alzheimer’s Disease research will be distributed.
