MARK STARR, DVM, MPVM, was appointed by Governor Brown in 2012 as the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Deputy Director for Environmental Health, which encompasses Food and Drug Safety, Cannabis Safety, and other programs.  In this talk, Dr. Starr will present the State of California's approach to regulating sales, marketing, and distribution of cannabis (i.e., 'marijuana') products to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of California residents.  A discussion will follow that addresses evidence needs to assist California's cannabis regulatory policies protect public health.
