Kevin Esterling and Marci Harris will present a report by the American Political Science Association Task Force on Congressional Reform Subcommittee on Technology and Innovation that assesses the current status of technology within Congress. They note that Congress is struggling to keep pace with increasingly rapid technological advances.
The report introduces a modernization process that would enable Congress to incorporate new technology that supports its policymaking, oversight, and constituent engagement work. This ongoing modernization process serves as a blueprint for an agile, adaptable, data-driven and modern Congress that keeps pace with new emerging technologies.
Marci Harris is CEO and founder of POPVOX.
Kevin Esterling, PhD, is professor of Public Policy and Political Science; director, Laboratory for Technology, Communication and Democracy (TeCD-Lab), University of California, Riverside.
