Presented in celebration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "Nobody Knows: (Un)Muted Voices" is inspired by the first two words of the African American spiritual, “Nobody Knows (The Troubles I’ve Seen).” To highlight the challenges and triumphs of those walking silently in the shadows, USC Thornton School of Music professor Ronald C. McCurdy and USC School of Dramatic Arts professor Anita Dashiell-Sparks will curate performances by students who will tell their stories via poetry, dance, video, and music.

The event will also include a conversation facilitated by Rossier School of Education professor Brandi P. Jones that will bring us together as we unmute and amplify the stories of marginalized communities.

This event is presented by USC Visions & Voices: the Arts & Humanities Initiative. Organized by Ronald C. McCurdy, Anita Dashiell-Sparks (Dramatic Arts), and Brandi P. Jones (Education). Co-sponsored by the USC Black Staff & Faculty Caucus and the Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs.

Admission is free and open to the public. RSVP required.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
