CPF Executive Director Kamy Akhavan discusses "Successes and Setbacks in an Age of Polarization" with:

  • Pearce Godwin: Founder, Listen First Project
  • Becca Kearl: Executive Director, Living Room Conversations
  • Manu Meel: CEO, BridgeUSA

This specific panel goes from 9:40 am - 10:40 am. The entire conference goes from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The National Day of Dialogue was inspired by 13 courageous individuals who, in 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic and following one of the most contentious elections in U.S. history, dared to come together despite what seemed at that time, incredibly low odds. Over the course of 4 weeks, these 13 Americans put dialogue to the test. In the end, however, they learned that healing and understanding are possible when dialogue remains a central part of the journey, even in the midst of seemingly low odds.

Since then, the National Day of Dialogue has grown to become more than just a day, or even a single event. It is a movement. A movement of average citizens — from across the globe — looking for answers to today’s highly polarized and politicized environment.

And while the National Day of Dialogue will never fully heal our country’s, or any country’s, divides, it is one important wave in a sea of bridge building efforts happening on an almost daily basis. These are led by organizations, leaders, and communities working across lines of difference to stitch the fabric of America, and the world, back together one person, one conversation, one dialogue at a time.

Partners for this year's National Day of Dialogue include: Ideos, Citizen Connect, Listen First Project, Bridge Alliance, Narrative Four, Hands of Peace, Circles USA, Alliance for Peacebuilding, Resetting the Table, HearMe.app, iSSACHAR Center for Urban Leadership, the Democracy Group, and Urban Rural Action.
