Title: Navigating the Quant Finance Industry: Careers and Skills

Abstract: Quantitative finance sits at the intersection of mathematics, programming, and financial markets, driving modern trading and investment strategies. This talk will provide an insider's perspective on the quant finance industry, covering career paths, required skill sets, and the evolving landscape across sell-side and buy-side firms. Drawing from my experience at Morgan Stanley and Hudson River Trading, I will discuss algorithm development, statistical modeling, and the role of cutting-edge technology in trading. The discussion will also touch on how the field has evolved, the challenges quants face today, and the skills that are becoming increasingly important in this fast-changing industry.
