Title: A Dive into the IOLA Materials for Conducting an Inquiry-Oriented Course in Linear Algebra

Abstract: The Inquiry Oriented Linear Algebra (IOLA) project has been a 12-year initiative conducted by Wawro, Plaxco and others to develop instructional materials for an inquiry oriented first linear algebra course.  The materials have recently been made available through a Creative Commons License.

In this talk we will discuss what a first course in linear algebra could look like using an inquiry-oriented approach, introduce the IOLA materials, and choose one unit to look at more closely.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
