The topic of Non-Native English Speaking teachers (NNESTs) has gained much attention in the field of TESOL. Multi-lingual teachers of English, for whom English is not their first language, comprise the majority of teachers in the field and are a vital segment in the profession. NNESTs bring critical strengths and insights to the field of language teaching, but they also face very real challenges. In this panel discussion, two non-native English-speaking professors in the field of TESOL will share their own experiences as NNESTs, discuss research findings pertaining to NNESTs, and answer questions from the audience about this topic.

Panelists:
Dr. Emmy Min, Professor of Clinical Education, MAT-TESOL Program, University of Southern California
Dr. Sedique Popal, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, MA TESOL Program, University of San Francisco
