ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Steep, Alter, Ritual examines how personal and communal rituals can transform the monotony of modern life and linear, productivity-driven notions of time. Rituals foster deeper human connections and introspection, cultivating meaning and presence in a world dominated by digital isolation and efficiency. Curated by the ‘25 MA Curatorial Practices and the Public Sphere cohort, this exhibition features artists from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. The exhibition showcases work across media, including painting, photography, video, printmaking, and installation. Featured artists explore how rituals create moments of reflection and connection, offering new perspectives on how symbolic actions shape our identities and shared experiences across cultures and generations.

The exhibition invites active engagement through special programs as well, including a live tea ceremony, tasseography, and film screening, allowing visitors to physically experience ritual. By encouraging interaction, Steep, Alter, Ritual fosters a recognition of shared presence through rituals. These participatory moments serve as a bridge between personal introspection and collective experience, offering a deeper exploration of how rituals nurture connection and grounding in a digital age.
