On behalf of the Los Angeles Regional Community Colleges and the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), we invite you to participate in the Strong Workforce Community & Industry Partners Meeting.
In 2014, Congress enacted the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), landmark legislation designed to improve public workforce systems and to increase employment in high-quality jobs and careers by helping employers hire, train, and reskill workers so they can compete in our new “information age” economy. Through WIOA, as well as subsequent decisions made by the State of California, there is a significant opportunity for L.A. County’s community colleges to take their rightful place as the essential workhorses for preparing our state’s 21st century workforce.
Your input during this meeting will illuminate the regional labor market’s needs, will inform budgetary, course development, and programmatic decisions, and will help change the way our regional community colleges instruct, interact with and train students, jobseekers, and incumbent workers. We encourage industry employees with knowledge of their firm’s future hiring and training needs to attend this meeting. If you feel another person should attend in your stead, please forward our message.
Who should attend? Hiring managers, supply chain and operations executives from the aerospace, entertainment/digital media, advanced transportation, and life sciences industries or anyone interested in informing future workforce programs.
