ADMISSION:
Admission is free. Reservations required. RSVP here.

DESCRIPTION:
Get close to the masterworks of dance makers William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, and Paul Taylor—three living legends of the choreographic art. William Forsythe is credited with reorienting ballet from its identification with classical repertoire to a dynamic 21st-century art form in a career spanning nearly half a century. Jiří Kylián spent 30 years as artistic director of the acclaimed Nederlands Dans Theater. And Paul Taylor, described by critic Terry Teachout as “the world’s greatest living artist irrespective of medium,” has bridged the distance from modern to contemporary dance with more than 100 extraordinary works. In two thrilling performances, BFA students from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance will take on classic choreography by these legendary choreographers, whose work has defined the direction of dance today. Prior to the Thursday and Friday evening performances, there will be a conversation with Glenn Edgerton, artistic director of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and USC Kaufman faculty Thomas McManus and Patrick Corbin, offering a glimpse into the creative motivations and practices that have shaped these works from concept to reality.
