Wallis Annenberg Hall (ANN), Sheindlin Forum (106)

LGBTQ+ rights are under threat in the U.S., yet many media outlets and reporters lack the resources to tell these stories today with the renewed cultural literacy that this era of journalism requires. This reporting panel will bring together renowned queer writers and editors to discuss best practices for LGBTQ+ reporting including style guides, responsible reporting, and career advice for queer professionals.

This panel precedes JOUR468, a LGBTQ+ reporting class, offered in Fall 2025. Panelists include:

  • Tre'vell Anderson, founder and chief imagination officer, Slayzhon
  • Gina Chua, executive editor, Semafor
  • Jireh Deng, economy fellow at Business Insider
  • Lil Kalish, LGBTQ+ rights reporter at HuffPost
  • Kate Sosin, LGBTQ+ reporter at The 19th News
