  us to action by bringing attention to past\, present and future issues ce
 ntral to abortion activism in the United States and beyond. This discussio
 n\, bridging the local and the global\, will focus on the importance of ab
 ortion as both a health and a human rights issue prior to the 1973 passage
  of Roe v. Wade\, during the several decades when abortion was legal\, and
  now given the recent Supreme Court decision.
