DESCRIPTION:The Center for Education\, Identity and Social Justice\, co-dir
 ected by Professors Shafiqa Ahmadi and Darnell Cole\, will host a one day 
 conference for higher education administrators\, leaders and scholars from
  across the nation to address law and policy issues related to social just
 ice and intersectionality that inform and impact educational institutions.
  The purpose of the conference is to help institutions identify gaps in th
 eir policies and practices\, specifically related to Title IX\, Protests a
 nd Free Speech\, Muslim Ban\, and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (
 DACA). Following the conference\, we will create a post-event report outli
 ning how higher education institutions can be proactive in addressing crit
 ical issues that impact students\, staff\, faculty and ultimately institut
 ional survival.\n\n \n\nThe conference will feature two expert keynote spe
 akers:\n\nTarana Burke\, Founder of 'Me Too' Movement\,  Senior Director o
 f Girls for Gender Equity and Social Justice Activist\n\nMichael A. Olivas
 \, William B. Bates Distinguished Chair in Law and Director of the Institu
 te for Higher Education Law and Governance at University of Houston\n\n \n
