Eve Jochnowitz is author of The Vilna Vegetarian Cookbook: Garden-Fresh Recipes Rediscovered and Adapted for Today’s Kitchen (Schocken, 2015)
Fania Lewando's Vegetarian Cookbook, published in Vilna in 1937, is filled with vivid and sometimes astonishing recipes that draw from Jewish tradition, European cuisine and the nascent early 20th century health food movement. Dr. Jochnowitz will look at Lewando's extraordinary Yiddish cookbook and engage in conversation with Evan Kleiman, host of KCRW's Good Food.
Eve Jochnowitz has been teaching Yiddish language, culture and literature, including Yiddish foodways and dance, for over 20 years.
Chef, author, radio host and former restaurateur Evan Kleiman is a culinary multitasker. She has hosted KCRW 's Good Food since 1997.
