ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Gentle Grounds for Seeing examines observation as a concept, informed by my experience in mental health treatment. The exhibition explores observation in multiple facets: as a brave act, a tool I’ve used in my struggle with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and an opportunity for presence. I reflect on the process as well as the outcome of observation through pattern explorations, conceptual large-scale drawings, and musings about form and environment in various mediums. Textual statements throughout my work exhibit my movement through the idea. While driven by my personal experience, the exhibition ultimately seeks to relay a love in the minuscule features of the world and a value in taking the time to see them.
