All researchers want to have their work seen and make an impact. Open access (OA) publishing can increase the exposure and impact of a researcher’s work by making their articles and findings more accessible to a wider audience. This workshop will cover the basics of OA, the different models used by publishers, and transformative agreements reached by the USC Libraries and several scholarly publishers. Transformative agreements make newly published articles by USC authors in participating publishers freely available to readers under an open access model. Participants will come away with information about OA journals in their subject areas for their use and to share with their Schools and departments. They will also be able to understand OA mandates from funders, evaluate OA journals, and discuss how OA addresses disparities in scholarly publishing.
This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
