Talk title: Suicide clusters, spatial and temporal correlations, and their environment and social determinants in the United States
Talk description: Suicide remains a major cause of mortality in the United States, and rates across age have risen in the last 15 years. Suicide in recent years has clustered in space and time in new ways, pointing towards critical and accelerating evidence for new risk factors, and the need to engage in population health science methods in order to design and implement effective population-level interventions for suicide prevention. Both the proximal (e.g. means of death) and distal (e.g. economic and social determinants, novel risk factors) causes of suicide remain understudied in recent years in the US, which is necessary for prevention and intervention efforts.
