  Honorable John Chiang\nFormer California State Treasurer (2015–2019) an
 d State Controller (2007–2014)\, he played a key role in protecting the 
 state’s credit during the Great Recession and uncovered more than $9.5 b
 illion in government fraud\, waste\, and abuse. He also served on the Cali
 fornia Board of Equalization. Chiang is a member of the USC Sol Price Scho
 ol of Public Policy Board of Councilors and was a 2020 Fellow at the USC C
 enter for the Political Future\, where he led a course on California’s e
 conomic policy responses to major crises.Bob Shrum - Director of the USC D
 ornsife Center for the Political Future and the Carmen H. and Louis Warsch
 aw Chair in Practical Politics. A celebrated political consultant and advi
 sor to presidential campaigns\, Bob brings decades of experience in public

 \nThe Herbert G. Klein Lecture on Civic and Community Leadership was estab
 lished in 2006 by the USC Dornsife College of Letters\, Arts and Sciences 
 to honor Herb Klein’s enduring legacy in journalism\, public service\, a
 nd communication. The annual lecture invites distinguished voices to engag
 e with the USC community on topics of civic leadership\, political partici
 pation\, and community activism.
