About this Event
Gentle Intro to Modern, Agentic Workspace
Presenter: Ron Li, Author, Data Scientist
Abstract: In the past several months, the way we interact with technology has fundamentally shifted from simple chat prompts to the creation of autonomous ecosystems. This isn't just hype—we are seeing tasks that previously required an entire engineering team and a month of development being completed in a single hour on a personal laptop.
This workshop offers a low-barrier entry into this "agentic" shift. We will move beyond basic AI interactions to explore how researchers can organize legacy code, automate library migrations, and build a comprehensive reference library that acts as a true research partner. The goal is to transform your digital environment from a static folder of files into a dynamic, agent-driven workspace.
Recommended: Bring your laptop. To participate in the lab component of the workshop, you will need a subscription for either Cursor, Antigravity, or Claude Code. A free version is likely to run into a limit issue, but if you subscribe to Antigravity (https://one.google.com/), the first month is free.
This program is open to all eligible individuals. USC operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the university’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other prohibited factor.
