ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
MFA Art '24 candidate Hannah Huntley's thesis exhibition, Apologies for the Delay, visualizes the struggles of living with chronic and invisible illness. Using painting, puppetry, sculpture, and video, this exhibition portrays and explores the challenges of navigating societal expectations and the ongoing battle to keep up with the demands of daily life. The work utilizes bright colors, and an illustrative style to create a sense of comfort that helps mask the discomfort of living in a sick body. This allows viewers to confront the stark contrast between appearances and reality, highlighting the facade of normalcy that individuals with invisible illnesses often maintain. Employing anthropomorphized animals in human scenarios, the exhibition illustrates the inherent incongruity between the world's design and the diverse needs of its inhabitants.
