DESCRIPTION:
Grounded in the work of Audre Lorde, this workshop facilitated by Director of Culture at Glow Up Games and former Racialicious editor Latoya Peterson will explore erotic resistance to the demands of technology in the pandemic and reset the participants’ relationships with outside influences. The session will close with a facilitated sound bath.
Grounding Ourselves from Tech is part of Portal: A Healing and Dreaming Experience of Afrofutures. Over three afternoons of multisensory exploration, storytelling, and discussion, Annenberg Lab fellows, students, alumni, and guests will explore ways to embody new futures together virtually.
Bio:
Latoya Peterson is CXO and Director of Culture at Glow Up Games. A television veteran specializing in emerging technology, Peterson was an award-winning race and culture writer for major outlets like the New York Times, NPR, Jezebel, and Kotaku, as well as a three-time judge for the World Video Game Hall of Fame.
