Linda S. Birnbaum, PhD, DABT, ATS is the former Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) of the National Institutes of Health, and the National Toxicology Program (NTP). After retirement, she was granted scientist emeritus status and still maintains a laboratory. As a board-certified toxicologist, Birnbaum served as a federal scientist for 40 years.

 

The John Peters Memorial Lecture acknowledges the legacy of John Peters, MD, MPH, ScD. Peters was founding Director of the Environmental Health Divisionin the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, and mentor to countless faculty and students. He is remembered as a valued colleague, an inspirational advisor, a consummate punster and a true advocate for public health. We honor his memory and career with this lecture series.
