code the algebraic theory of topological phases of matter. They are relativ
ely well-studied models for topological quantum computation and knot theory
plays a vital role in studying these categories. In this talk\, I will exp
lain how knots\, links\, and braids are used to study the connection betwee
n MTCs and topological quantum computation. Although this talk will primari
ly encompass perspectives from algebra and topology\, the target audience f
or this talk is any math graduate student in any level or discipline.
